Shereen Reid Shereen Reid
2025 Charter Teacher of the the Year

Being an educator was Shereen Reid’s childhood dream, which she fulfilled by being a passionate and dedicated educator at Somerset Prep North Lauderdale.  With more than 15 years of experience in education, her leadership work includes being a 4th-grade team leader, mentor to fellow educators, and a 3-5 math content leader.
Her student-centered approach in the classroom emphasizes academic, resiliency, and character growth. This approach contributes to her students’ consistent high performance in mathematics assessments, averaging above the 60th percentile.  This is compared to neighboring schools and district averages, apart of which contributed to Ms. Reid being recognized as the “2024-2025 Charter School Teacher of the Year” by the Florida Charter School Alliance and the Florida Department of Education.
In her classroom, Ms. Reid encourages students to strive for “self-actualization” so they can become the best versions of themselves. Using a student-centered approach that emphasizes the individual needs, interests, and learning styles of her students, she fosters a learning environment where every student knows that they are important, loved, and supported. Her focus as an educator is to make math meaningful and enjoyable while helping students develop into productive citizens for their communities.
Outside of school, Ms. Reid enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, writing poetry, gardening, and taking long walks.  These interests keep her grounded while inspiring creativity in her work with students.
